Orange

Yes. The color orange. Outside of fruit, flowers, trees, sunsets and possibly Squirrel teeth (still waiting for confirmation of fact or fiction), I don’t think I’ve ever seen this color before. Where I found it is kind of gross and I’m slightly embarrassed by it. Nope. Super grossed out by it.
We’ve been living in our current place for about 10 months and a couple months into living here the inside of our dishwasher turned orange. Yes, seriously. I couldn’t believe it either. Our white dishwasher turned orange.

At first it was just a slight tint which was weird, but it slowly just kept getting worse. I bought different soaps and cleaners and nothing seemed to really work. Some cleaners just turned it slightly pink which was even weirder. I was seriously feeling at a loss and was afraid management would charge us whenever we move out.

For the record, I am not a gross person. I love things clean and tidy just like everyone else. Yes, I am busy and don’t clean every weekend, but I’m not orange dishwasher gross…

This last weekend it finally turned white.

I could probably cry I was so happy. How did this miracle happen?

  1. Wiped down the WHOLE inside of the dishwasher with straight White Vinegar on a rag. This is a REALLY important step — I’ve tried other ways of just putting it in a glass on the top rack and it did nothing. Do not skip this step. You won’t be sorry.
  2. Pour 1/2 cup of White Vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher (where the spinny arm is).
  3. Dump 1/2 cup of Baking Soda mixed with 10 drops of DoTerra Lemon Essential Oil in the bottom of the dishwasher – yes it will instantly start fizzing πŸ™‚
  4. Run your dishwasher on the Normal Wash cycle.

That’s it! When you open up your dishwasher it looks like this:

Thank you for bearing with my really gross story and I hope the next time your dishwasher starts doing something out of the ordinary, you give this a try! It’s nothing short of a miracle…
