It’s one of my weaknesses. It’s so easy to forget. Sometimes I get so busy, I haven’t had any all day. Sometimes it’s just boring. I want something more delicious. What am I talking about?!
Our body needs it. 60-65% of our body is made up of it. It’s one of our most vital needs. Yet it’s normally the LAST thing I want to drink each day. At minimum, you and I should be drinking 64 ounces (8 cups) each day and if you’re active and/or trying to lose a few pounds it should be half of your body weight in ounces of water (or more!).
The Benefits. After searching the web, the best list I could find came from WebMD. My abbreviations are below but read their article for a better, fuller description.
1. Helps you balance/ maintain the fluids in your body. This will help with digestion, circulation, removing toxins from the body, etc.
2. Curbs your appetite. A lot of times when you think you’re hungry, you’re actually thirsty. If you drink more water, you’ll consume less calories. BONUS.
3. Re-energizes your muscles. As you use your muscles throughout the day, whether exercising, walking or just moving around, your body uses the water within your body. If you don’t rehydrate your muscles, they will exhaust.
4. Hydrate your skin. If your skin is dry and ashy, you probably need more water. Everyone wants beautiful skin.
If you keep researching you’ll find many more benefits, but these are probably the most motivating – at least to me.
So why not?! Will you pick up your water bottle with me and commit to drinking more water each day??
What are some of your best ways to help you drink more water?
