Everyone wants to be healthy. We search high and low for the fastest and easiest way to shed pounds or to keep us from gaining the “freshman 15” or vacation weight. There are all sorts of diets to follow that help you lose quickly. Cut out carbs. Forget sugars. No fats. No meat. Etc.
Like everyone else, I find diet and exercise interesting. I don’t want to look back on my life years from now and wish I had made better decisions now that would have allowed me to play more with my future kids, run that extra mile or do something I wish I could have done if I was healthier. I have subscribed to various magazines, followed numerous blogs, read many articles, etc. all to pursue and understand what our body needs and what would be the best option for me and my needs. And if I’m being honest, the best option would require the littlest amount of change.
If you didn’t already know, I got engaged on November 1, 2014, to the man of my dreams and in a little over 2 months I get to be his wife. As a soon-to-be bride, if I wasn’t already curious and in search of the best exercise and diet before, I am now. In January 2015, I joined this amazing health challenge group called the Healthy Games. It’s an amazing team that works alongside you, supporting you and meeting you where you’re at physically, mentally and emotionally in your health journey. It’s a fun way to connect with like-minded individuals and encourage each other during the month to motivate each other towards optimal health.
These games not only motivated me to make healthy choices but has also helped me see the reasoning behind why I cave or stumble into poor health decisions. These past 5 months have been so rewarding and motivating that I don’t want this journey to be temporary or “just a diet”. So far, I’ve lost about 10 pounds, but what’s even better than the number on the scale is my energy level. But I want my health journey to be even more than that (otherwise it could be just another “yo-yo diet”). I want it to be life changing. I want to be able to inspire and encourage others in their struggle and walk through health.
So what’s the point of all of this?
I’ve started a new journey as a Take Shape for Life Health Coach! I get to partner and walk beside others as they chose optimal health and strive for the “fit life”. I am far from perfect. I’m still on my own journey as well. But I am so excited for this new adventure in helping and inspiring others.
If you would like more information about the June Healthy Games that starts on June 1 or more about what Take Shape for Life looks like, let me know and I would be happy to help you start your own journey. I hope that you will be encouraged and inspired 🙂
