Let’s be honest… I haven’t been the most consistent blogger. For me, the purpose of my blog is to document the things I create, give a glimpse into my life and day to day ponderings for those individuals who aren’t actively present in my life, and just a place for me to reflect and pour out my heart with things I may be wrestling with or trying to understand. I want to be honest, open and transparent with those who want to listen.
This is my goal……… but it hasn’t been my reality.
Instead of giving myself the guilt trip for falling short on all the posts I had in mind or wished I had posted, you’ll have to forgive me. I’m declaring myself off the hook. I am a person who has a hard time saying no to things and I definitely don’t want to fall short. I want to be known as a person who is consistent and keeps her word. I want to do my very best and give 110% to all that I do. But lately I’ve been learning that sometimes it’s ok to realize the load is too heavy and you just have to stop and re-evaluate. Or just say no. This doesn’t make me a horrible person. God has gifted me with the ability to dream and thrive on ideas. In order to use my God-given gifts I need to be able to prioritize and be listening for God’s guidance and direction.
Well that was quite the tangent. I didn’t really have all of that in mind for this post. In order to make the rest of this post short, sweet and to the point, I’ll just give you a glimpse of what my life is currently like:
Current Project: Owen Timothy Perry’s baby quilt! My brother and sister in love are expecting a little baby boy the end of November/ early December and have asked me to create a Puppy and Sports themed baby quilt! There most definitely will be pictures 🙂
Current Book(s): Dating with Pure Passion by Rob Eagar, The Best Yes by Lysa TerKeurst, and Restless by Jennie Allen. I know what you’re thinking. Three books? But here’s the thing.. they all fit so well with where I am currently in my life.
I’ve been reading Dating with Pure Passion with my roommate, Heather, for several months. We both started dating our men around the same time and it’s been a great tool for both of us in our relationships. If you’re single or in a dating relationship, this is a book for you.
Restless is for my bible study with my ladies at church! Sam’s mom is also doing this study with me and it has been so fun and challenging as we learn and explore what gifts God has equipped each of us with and how we use those gifts.
The Best Yes is my lunch time read. I am only on Chapter 4 but this book goes perfectly with the Restless study and probably explains the previous tangent.
Favorite Drink: Pumpkin Spice Latte. I just can’t say no.
High School Ministry: This week is our last week on “Love Sex and Dating” and it has been a really good study. Especially after reading Loveology. God is at work in the lives of our students and I am excited to see what He will do in this next series.
My man: Sam has gone back to school and I am fortunate and thankful that he is willing to come up here when he can and have some quality time with me. We are learning to balance the quality time with the study/productive time. I still can’t believe how blessed I am by him. God sure is good.
The roomies: They are wonderful and such a blessing. I can’t imagine having any other roommates. In a few short months, Heather is getting married to the man of her dreams and I am so blessed and honored that she would entrust me with the task of coordinating their wedding! It’s going to be an exciting couple of months!
My family: I miss them all dearly. Especially lately. My parents did come over to this side of the mountain a few weeks ago and it was so wonderful to spend a little bit of time with them. But I just want more. I haven’t seen my sister since she graduated four months ago. And even though my brother and sister in love and I all live in the same city, I could always spend more time with them.
Work: My current schedule now allows me the time to give 4 hours on Fridays that will be devoted to all things creative. (YAY!) You have permission to ask me what my current Friday project is.
I will do my best to post about what I am up to, what’s on my mind, and what God is teaching me. For now, I’ll keep my planner at hand, the creativity flowing, coffee cup full and praying for more direction with what He has planned for me.
